Prompt 1: The Feedback Ask (highest reply rate)
Write a cold email to [NAME] at [COMPANY].
Context: I built [PRODUCT], which [ONE SENTENCE].
Why them: They wrote [THEIR WORK] about [TOPIC].
Constraints:
- Under 100 words
- First line references their specific work
- Ask: "Would you try it and tell me what's broken?"
- No "reaching out", no "I hope this finds you well"
This works because the ask is tiny and specific. "Tell me what's broken" invites honest engagement.
Prompt 2: The Problem-Solution Email
Write a cold email to [NAME], a [ROLE] at [COMPANY].
Lead with the problem, not the product.
Subject line under 50 chars.
One concrete example of how it solves the problem.
Ask: a 10-minute call or a trial.
Prompt 3: The Follow-Up
Write a follow-up email to [NAME] who hasn't responded.
- Under 60 words
- Reference the previous email briefly
- Add ONE new piece of information
- Same low-pressure ask
- No guilt-tripping
Prompt 4: The Referral Ask
Write an email asking if they know someone who would benefit.
- Under 80 words

- Describe the ideal user in one sentence
Prompt 5: The Reactivation Email
Write a reactivation email to someone who signed up but never used it.

How to test cold email prompts
Run each prompt 5 times with different recipients. Check: Does it reference something real? Is it under the word limit? Would YOU reply to it?
