Stopping Rogue AI Agents in Real Time: Zero-Disk Ephemeral Sandboxing in 0.12ms
Autonomous AI agents (CrewAI, AutoGen, Claude, Cursor) are getting massive privileges: executing terminal commands, querying databases, and making web calls. But with these capabilities comes a growing crisis: rogue agent execution.
Whether triggered by indirect prompt injection, zero-width steganography, or context drift, an agent with bash tools can read ~/.ssh/id_rsa, install persistent malware, or exfiltrate environment variables.
At Iris Computing (Campfire Creative LLC DBA Iris Computing), we built Iris Sentinel—a zero-disk cryptographic defense gateway and MCP supervisor.
Why Traditional Prompt Guardrails Fail
Standard prompt guardrails ("Please be safe and don't leak secrets") operate at the semantic layer. They consistently fail against:
-
Unicode Steganography: Smuggling instructions using zero-width spaces (
\u200B–\uFEFF). -
Context Delimiter Injection: Tricking models with fake
<system>or[INST]boundary tags. - Indirect Retrieval Poisoning: Malicious payloads hidden inside search results or scraped web pages.
To truly secure an autonomous agent, protection must exist at the system call and protocol boundary.

1. Sub-Millisecond Tier-0 Reflex Engine (0.12ms)
Before any tool is executed, Sentinel runs a Tier-0 reflex inspection on arguments and surrounding context. Attempts to exfiltrate private keys, pipe credentials into curl, or spawn fork bombs are killed in under 0.15 milliseconds.
2. Sealed Ephemeral Memory (W^X)
Approved tools execute inside volatile Linux memory descriptors (memfd_create + F_SEAL_SEAL). No binary or intermediate output is written to disk. When execution finishes, the memory descriptor is unmapped and zeroed.
3. Cryptographic Canary Traps
Sentinel dynamically generates fake decoy credentials (fake AWS keys / bearer tokens) and seeds them into agent working context. If any tool call tries to transmit these honeytokens, Sentinel immediately executes a kill-switch.
4. Native Model Context Protocol (MCP) Standard
Compatible out of the box with Claude Desktop, Cursor, and any MCP-compliant agent framework.
