The concept of facial recognition AI bias is a pressing concern in the realm of artificial intelligence. Recent studies have highlighted a concerning trend where facial recognition AI trained on predominantly white datasets exhibit a higher misidentification rate for individuals of African descent. This phenomenon is often attributed to the dataset's racial homogeneity, which can perpetuate biases and reinforce existing social inequalities.

When these AI models are exposed to images of individuals with African features, they tend to detect stronger facial structures, even when the images are identical to those of their white counterparts. This bias can be attributed to the model's inability to adequately represent and account for the unique facial characteristics of people of color. As a result, individuals of African descent may be misidentified or wrongly matched, which can have severe consequences in law enforcement, surveillance, and other areas where facial recognition is used...
