Day 1321 : The Wall

liner notes:

  • Professional : Had some back to back meetings to start the day off. A lot of stuff happening. I heard back about a possible upcoming trip that I may be giving a talk at. Spent a good amount of the day, trying to get this MCP App that I created working in some MCP Clients. The wall that I'm running into is the fact that I believe these MCP Clients that I tried are actually created with Electron and since the MCP App is basically an iFrame, it won't give access to the microphone and/or camera. I was able to get it working in an MCP Client that runs in a browser though. So it wasn't a total loss. For the rest of the day, I worked on adding the Prompt API that is built into Chrome browsers to the WebLLM and WebMCP Todo application that I created as a sample and MVP to be able to add other things in the future. I saw an example of the Prompt API using function / tool calling, but it looks like it was just an example of how they would like it to work. I had no clue and added it to my application following it's schema and the console log was like NOPE, no tools here! haha I had an idea of how I could fix it, but didn't want to do it and have another road block. I fought enough trying to get the MCP App to work earlier. So, I pasted my code into Gemini and told it what happened with function / tool calling not being supported and told it what my plan to fix it was. It said I was on the right track and that my plan was good, but it also pointed out how I could take advantage of something I already had to make things easier. Awesome. It also brought up some other nice things to have to make the user experience better and gave me some code to look at. I got a lot more than I thought I would originally going in. There's like one other small things so I may either add it later tonight or early tomorrow morning.

  • Personal : Last night, I went down yet another rabbit hole thinking about what I could create with the new UV laser machine that I purchased. I'm especially thinking about the items for this upcoming limited edition 7" vinyl package that is at the pressing plant right now. I wanted to have a custom slipmat that the buyer could put their record on their turntable. At first, I was thinking I would lazer cut some felt and use direct to film prints to put a design on them. Felt is cool, but after some research, I heard acrylic slipmats help with sound quality. I'm thinking that maybe I can use the UV laser to cut out some acrylic slipmats and maybe engrave a design on it. Then I thought, why cut anything when I could just 3D print the slipmat. I had no clue what would be the best, so I asked Google Gemini to do some deep research and compare and contrast my options and maybe come up with things I never thought of. After a little more back and forth, I think we came up with something that is going to be very unique and people will really like. I also put together the list of projects I want to pick up on Bandcamp this week.

A dramatic, wide-angle view from a high mountain ridge overlooking a lush, green alpine valley. In the background, massive, jagged gray limestone peaks rise sharply into a heavy, dark, and moody cloud-filled sky. The steep slopes are a mix of verdant pastures and dense dark green evergreen forests, with sheer rock faces and deep ravines creating a rugged terrain. The scene is captured under flat, natural light, emphasizing the immense scale and stark beauty of the mountain range. The setting is Hoher Kasten in the Appenzell Alps, Switzerland.

I'm going to purchase and finish up the social media posts for the projects I'm picking up on Bandcamp so I can get that out of the way. That way, I'll also have more tracks to put together the playlist for the radio show this week. There's some emails I need to respond to for business. Depending on how quick the stuff I have left for the application I was working on earlier, I may just knock it out before going to bed. There's also some stuff I need to research and think of demos, so I may do that as well. First, going to eat dinner and get to work.

Have a great night!

peace piece
