On Tuesday, Dec 9, I attended the 21st Data Intelligence Tokyo meetup, organized by Quollio, and it turned out to be a very engaging and insightful event. This edition was held at a new location, WeWork KDX Toranomon, which created a comfortable and focused atmosphere for discussion.
Lightning Talk: Fighting Misinformation in the Age of AI
The main session was a lightning talk titled “Fighting Misinformation in the Age of AI”, presented by Syuzanna Khalatyan, an AI Researcher and Computer Science student at Minerva University, specializing in machine learning and data-driven systems.
The talk focused on how misinformation is evolving alongside AI technologies. Syuzanna explained how generative models can amplify false or misleading information, intentionally or unintentionally, and why this creates new challenges for trust, verification, and accountability. She also shared practical perspectives on how data-driven approaches and responsible AI design can help reduce the spread of misinformation.
What stood out to me was how clearly the topic was framed around real-world impact, not just theory. The examples made it easy to understand why this issue matters not only for researchers, but also for developers and product teams working with AI systems.
Lively Discussions and Q&A
After the talk, the discussion quickly became interactive. The Q&A session was lively, with participants asking thoughtful questions and sharing their own experiences related to AI-generated content, data reliability, and ethical considerations. These conversations helped deepen connections among attendees and made the meetup feel very collaborative.
Overall, Data Intelligence Tokyo #21 was a great reminder of how important it is to discuss not only what AI can do, but also how it should be used responsibly. Many thanks to Syuzanna Khalatyan, Quollio, and everyone who joined and contributed to the conversation.
I’m already looking forward to the next Data Intelligence Tokyo meetup.
