# Preface
Hello everyone, I am Evan Lin, a senior development technology promotion engineer from the LINE Developer Relations team. My main job is to promote platform technology and build and communicate the technical brand. I am very happy to cooperate with [APCSCamp 2021 (Programming Ability Training Camp)](https://apcs.camp/#aboutapcs). I am honored to represent the company and share with the students how to learn programming well and how to become an intern at LINE.
# About APCSCamp 2021
## What is APCS
- APCS is the English abbreviation for Advanced Placement Computer Science, which refers to "Advanced Placement Computer Science Examination." Its examination model refers to the Advanced Placement (AP) courses in American universities, and it cooperates with various universities to set questions and determine that the examination questions have been tested for validity and reliability to ensure the credibility of the examination results. In Taiwan, APCS is currently the most credible indicator for measuring the programming ability of high school students: currently, 31 universities and 38 departments have established APCS groups and included APCS in the admission threshold.
## Origin
- In recent years, with the rise of artificial intelligence, the Department of Computer Science has become a major popular department, and everyone has begun to pay attention to the abilities required to enter the Department of Computer Science, and APCS has also attracted the attention of parents. The tutoring industry is more actively seizing the opportunity to make APCS tutoring courses spring up like bamboo shoots after a rain. However, we found that the quality of the course materials in the tutoring classes was uneven, and some of them still had a lot of room for improvement, and some of the answers to the questions were even wrong. In addition, we also found that most of these APCS courses are concentrated in large cities such as the Greater Taipei area.
- In order to solve the above problems, we decided to use our professional capabilities to hold an online camp in the summer of 2021 for beginners, planning the course content according to the APCS exam outline. Although the online camp has many more restrictions than the physical camp, considering the epidemic trend and our original intention of breaking the geographical restrictions, we still decided to hold it online, hoping that beginners from all over Taiwan who want to improve their programming skills can participate.

## Introduction to LINE Services
First, I introduced the development history of LINE services to each student. After launching LINE services in Japan in 2011, it has been ten years this year (2021). The growth over the past ten years has transformed from a communication platform to a life platform for every user.

## How to Learn a Programming Language Well? (Taking Golang as an Example)

Because the students participating in the speech are all high school students, and the main content of the course is mainly C++. So I used learning a new programming language Golang as an example. To explain how to learn a new programming language.
On the road to learning the Golang programming language, I suggest that every friend should not understand too much about the design philosophy of Golang, nor do you need to know the language features, and don't rashly understand too much about the operating principles. The important thing to suggest is:
Try writing a few applications first
By writing one or two applications, you can gain relevant knowledge:
- How to successfully compile (compile) a Golang application.
- How to set up related environments, of course, it may be through [Golang Playground](https://play.golang.org/)
- You can quickly familiarize yourself with some basic syntax.
Through these methods, you can quickly get yourself a development environment and the first application developed. In this process, you may encounter many problems?
- How to compile Golang
- How to cross-platform compile
- How to automatically correct the layout of the file
There is no trick to learning a new programming language. The first condition is to try to build things first.
## Learn Actively, Encounter Problems, Find Them Out, Record Them, and Share Them.

When learning a programming language, we often have some questions?
- How to write the syntax of for?
- How to change recursion to for?
It is recommended that when you encounter a problem, you can throw the problem into the search engine to find information. After finding the answer, remember to try it a few more times. And while the impression is still fresh, write the answer you found into an article.
There are many benefits to doing this. Many times, the answer you find is not exactly the answer you want. But after your attempts and explorations, you finally found the real answer. However, this exploration process and answer are likely to be easily forgotten. Through this active learning, you will encounter many problems along the way, for example:
- Want to write recursive suddenly found, will not compile
- After compiling, found that recursive stuck
- Learn how to debugging
- Found the problem, and it was successful after modification.
So there are many benefits to active learning, and by recording it. You will think about the whole process in your mind, for example:
- The situation that could not be compiled at the beginning? What was the reason?
- After correctly solving the problem, what part was modified?
The related processes are a good help for you to recall in the future.
### Feynman Learning Method: Sharing, Relearning, and Simplified Analogy
Here is a supplement, Richard Feynman, the Nobel Prize winner in physics, Feynman's method is simple, but very effective. There are only four steps:
- Select a knowledge and learn it
- Imagine teaching it to a freshman
- Relearn and learn more deeply
- Use a simplified analogy
These processes are called the "Feynman Learning Method" and are recognized by many as an effective learning method. The author believes that this is also my related learning method. The next step is to "share".
### Through sharing, imagine explaining to a beginner.
Whether it is a study group experience report with classmates or sharing in the community. Because you have to explain certain knowledge to people who don't understand, you will have a lot of questions yourself, and then you can try to learn it again. Clarify all the related questions, and naturally you will understand thoroughly, and you will be able to explain it to people with simple analogies. I often hear many seniors sharing an important thing:
How deeply a person understands depends on whether he can explain a very complex thing with a simpler thing.
When you feel that you can't explain it, you should be careful. Often you are only in a state of knowing a little, and the students should also pay attention.
