# Preface:
This is the third book I've finished reading this year. Finally finished reading a relatively lighthearted book again. Due to the stock market fluctuations during this period, I spent more time learning about the mindset of stock trading (it seems it would be more useful to just meditate and recite the Heart Sutra?). This book has been lying on my bookshelf for quite a while because books that make me laugh like this are usually for relaxing, so I read them intermittently.
The ancient emperors who held the highest power, everyone had to listen to them. What strange habits did those historical wise rulers have? Even more seriously, this book will tell you that all the ancient emperors you know had mental illnesses (varying in severity). This book can let you know about some of the exaggerated behaviors.
# Content Summary and Thoughts:
The Crown Prince watched in silence, the Princess watched and wept, only to realize that her father had a screw loose!
If there were Apple Daily and Next Magazine in ancient times, these emperors could all be on the front page.
This book introduces eighteen of the most distinctive emperors, interpreting them with humorous and witty language, deeply researching the emperors' strange conditions, such as obsessive-compulsive disorder, procrastination, narcissism, cat lovers... etc., revealing another side of the emperors you've never seen, and restoring a real, vivid, and unique strange king.

Since this book lists the actions of each emperor, I won't list them out here. Here are a few that I think are quite problematic.
- Disagree and kill people - Cao Cao
- Although Cao Cao is not considered an emperor who unified the country in history, he is still considered the King of Wei. But everyone knows that he was once chased and fled to the home of Lu Boshe. Because he heard the sound of sharpening a knife, he thought they were going to attack him, so he killed the whole family. In the end, they were going to kill a pig to treat him. In fact, this book also lists many deeds to prove that Cao Cao was a person with serious paranoia.
- Southern and Northern Dynasties - Emperor Wenxuan of Qi
- This part shows that emperors were built with blood, and the harem was even more chaotic. (Lots of killing)
- The Song Taizu who founded the empire
- Everyone knows Song Taizu, who was draped in a yellow robe, but besides being personally very strong, he also had ideas and would hold the military power tightly. But because of his mania and violence, he was pulled down by his own brother.
- The workaholic Yongzheng, the calligraphy-loving Qianlong:
- It is said that Yongzheng, who asked about politics every day, led to his early demise. Everyone knows that "I know" comes from Yongzheng, who loved to ask about politics.
- Qianlong loved to write inscriptions on calligraphy and paintings. I remember that I have seen calligraphy and paintings from the Northern and Southern Palaces respectively, and they are full of Qianlong's words.
# Thoughts
The emperor is the highest symbol of power in ancient times, and of course, it is also the part that everyone admires. The pressure they bear is unimaginable, so many emperors have some bad habits that are hard to imagine. This book collects many popular little stories, allowing you to understand the unknown side of these emperors. With the support of many official histories and articles, much of the content is quite exciting, making people laugh while reading.
