LINE Taiwan Developer Relations 2019 Review and 2020 Community Plan Report (Part 1: External Evangelism)

Preface

Hello everyone, I am Evan Lin from the LINE Taiwan Developer Relations team. After more than a year of effort by LINE Developer Relations, I would like to summarize what the entire team has done in this article, and I also hope to make an annual report for the "LINE Developer Community Program".

According to the original Introducing Developer Relations team article written by LINE Developer Relations, the main goals of this team are clearly defined as follows:

  • External Evangelism: Encouraging developers to use LINE's platform, APIs, and SDKs to develop attractive and interesting application services. (Encouraging people to make attractive and interesting services using the APIs and the SDK by LINE)
  • Internal Evangelism: Helping engineers grow and hone themselves through various means (Doing whatever our engineers feel difficult to do themselves in making improvements at work)
  • Technical Branding and Hiring: Letting more people know that being a LINER (LINE employee's self-proclaimed name) has many fun and exciting things. (Letting people know how fun and exciting it is for engineers to work at LINE)

The following articles will be divided into these three parts to explain in sequence, and I hope that more developers can review the interesting results of developer relations and technical promotion in 2019 with us.

Article List:

External Evangelism: Encouraging developers to use LINE's platform, APIs, and SDKs to develop attractive and interesting application services

First, let's introduce the platform promotion part. There are two important channels for platform promotion this year. One is the official developer community OA (@line_tw_dev), and the other is LINE Developer Meetup.

LINE Developer Meetup

This year, a total of four LINE Developer Meetup events were held, and there was also an event to promote and introduce LINE Things. Several events mainly promoted LIFF and LINE Things. Whether through LAE or official technical documents, we hope to let more developers understand the development resources related to the LINE platform.

Continuous Support for Chatbot Meetup

Chatbot Taiwan Meetup is a very dynamic community and is also a local open-source technology community that LINE hopes to continue to support. Whether it is the monthly sharing or inviting LINE API Experts to assist. LINE hopes that the chatbot community can gradually expand and hopes that more developers can join the ranks of developing chatbots.

Happily, the community also opened its first branch in Taichung this year. And it is an honor to share TECHPULSE 2019 RECAP in Taichung. Let developers in central Taiwan learn about the latest news on LINE platform development.

LINE Chatbot Dialogue Robot Design Competition

This year, we were also very happy to participate in the 2019 LINE Chatbot Dialogue Robot Design Competition organized by the LINE Protostar Program team and Taipei Business. We were very happy to see many capable competition teams and a lot of creative competition topics. We also hope that LINE Chatbot developers will have more stages to show their results in the future.

LINE Developer Document Supports Traditional Chinese

In the past, when discussing in many campus speeches and public occasions, many students expressed their hope that the official LINE Developer Document could support Traditional Chinese. This makes it easier for many students to read and allows more people without a technical background to understand the world of LINE Bot development more quickly. Currently, the Messaging API introduction and news in Traditional Chinese have been completed. We look forward to providing developers with more Chinese resources in the future.

New Features of the LINE Developer Official Account are Launched

Regarding the platform technology promotion, finally, I am very happy to share a piece of good news with you. "LINE Developer Official Community OA" (Add friends: https://lin.ee/s5RsZHo), has launched new features. It allows many developers to directly search for many frequently asked questions by directly using the Q&A method with the official account. It can also let developers know the latest activities of the LINE Developer Community Program.
