## Preface:
Apple Notes (i.e., "Notes" on iOS / Mac OSX) is a powerful tool for quickly writing notes, supporting simple markdown syntax and the ability to paste images using the clipboard, which is actually quite convenient for many users. However, if you accidentally put your data on iCloud, it's not good for security control. This article records some related migration methods that allow you to export Apple Notes.
## Be Careful About Uploading to the Cloud
First, you need to pay attention that for Apple notes, there is no distinction between "cloud" and "local". As long as you accidentally connect your laptop's Apple Notes to iCloud, you will no longer be able to access it locally.
If there are security concerns, never use Apple Notes on iCloud!

## Accidentally Uploaded to the Cloud, How to Restore to "Local Apple Note"
This is a bit troublesome, and the simple answer is: **"Impossible"**.
Possible approaches include:
- Back up as PDF and then delete the article (cannot import into Apple Notes)
- Disconnect from the network, and then delete iCloud information.
- If there are not many articles, use send to maintain the format.
### If there are not many articles, you can use send.
To maintain the format, you can use send (Air Drop) to send.
- Use iCloud phone (deleted information, will delete the folder again)
- Recover the note, and then send the note via Airdrop to MacOSX.
- Repeat this, one by one.
## Even if you successfully transfer to local Apple Notes, you must back up your computer when changing laptops
Since the local Apple notes are stored in a hidden data folder, and the format is not easy to restore. If you want to change computers, you may have to use the Apple laptop backup and restore function. This may also step on the field of security control.
### Recently, I found another way, which is to switch to Bear notes

[Bear notes App](https://bear.app/) is a very powerful note-taking software. In addition to using Markdown as the syntax, it uses tags and interconnections. This makes organizing information more convenient. And it provides a way to migrate Apple Notes to Bear Notes.
[Migrate from Apple Notes](https://bear.app/faq/Import%20&%20export/Migrate%20from%20Apple%20Notes/) This article teaches you how to back up Apple Notes through a small tool, and then import it into his notes through Bear Notes' powerful Import function. In addition, Bear Notes, if not paid, also stores the information locally. And you can back up your Bear Notes through [Backup and Restore Your Notes in Bear](https://bear.app/faq/Backup%20&%20Restore/) (for use when changing computers).
I am currently moving in this direction and continuing to research.
## Extra:
Actually, I used Markdown and vscode to manage notes at first, and it was fast to search and could be placed in a cloud folder for control. But you can't paste images directly from the clipboard. Now I might consider this.

I might consider this too.
