Dev.to for Google Summer of Code 2019

Since our beloved dev.to became open source just recently, I was thinking if it could apply to become a mentor organization in Google Summer of Code 2019 so that students like me can participate in GSoC while contributing to the project we love. Is it possible?

Thanks for the ping! This would be awesome, we’ll definitely start looking into it as a thing we partake in.

Any idea if it changes things that we’re a for-profit company?

According to the FAQ you need this:

To be eligible to participate as a mentoring organization, you must be a group running an active free/open source software project, e.g. BRL-CAD. The project does not need to be a legally incorporated entity. Mentoring organizations must have already produced and released software under an Open Source Initiative approved license and have at least two contributors to serve as organization administrators and/or mentors for the entire program in order to participate in the program.

It's not clear about what type of "group" but I'm not sure for profit companies themselves can participate.

I'm browsing the list of organizations from 2018 and they seem to be all foundations or open source projects, with the notable exception of Mozilla which is a company (though it's a no profit)
