I've always loved the iPad, but it never felt like a true laptop replacement until the M4 iPad Pro with an OLED display, built-in cellular, and the Apple Magic Keyboard changed that. The real issue was software: most apps are built for touch, not for serious keyboard-driven writing or coding. That gap pushed me to imagine a better experience for the iPad, one that feels fast, focused, and built around the keyboard.
That idea became Greditor. I started by looking at the best iPad text editors, but they felt dated and didn’t match the kind of editing experience I wanted. So I set out to build a new editor for myself: one that is simple, powerful, and designed for real content creation, whether you are writing code or working through long-form text.
Greditor now includes a wide range of features aimed at making the iPad feel more like a serious productivity machine. It supports keyboard-first editing, customizable key mappings, split panes, Git integration, local and cloud storage, remote development through Greditor Remote, canvas documents, macros, and MCP support. It is still evolving, but it is already a strong example of what a native iPad editor can be. It's completely free!
