Most fintech operations teams use a generic CRM (Salesforce, HubSpot, Zoho) for their sales pipeline. It works, kind of. But the data model is built around the assumption that every prospect → customer transition is a single moment.
In Indian finance it isn't. A prospect goes through:
- Lead capture
- Initial contact (RM call)
- KYC submission
- KYC verification
- Account funding
- First trade
Each stage has compliance state, regulator-mandated communications, and per-stage drop-off rates. Generic CRMs don't model any of this. Finovo CRM does.
The unified inbox
Indian customers don't reach you on one channel. They reach you on:
- WhatsApp (the default for retail)
- Telegram (for traders)
- Email (for compliance docs)
- SMS (for OTP-related queries)
- Phone calls (for HNI)
- Web chat (less common but real)
Each of these is its own provider with its own webhook. Most ops teams have one team per channel — separate WhatsApp ops, separate email ops. The customer doesn't think this way; if they sent a question on email yesterday and continued on WhatsApp today, they expect the broker's response to remember the email.
The unified inbox shows every customer's full conversation history across every channel as a single thread. A reply from any channel routes back via the channel the customer last used. Time-saved per ops-FTE: meaningful.
The KYC-stage funnel
Every prospect carries a KYC stage:
- LEAD (no contact)
- CONTACTED (RM has called)
- KYC_INITIATED (started the form)
- KYC_SUBMITTED (form submitted, pending verification)
- KYC_VERIFIED (verification cleared)
- ACCOUNT_FUNDED (money in)
- ACTIVE (first trade)
- DORMANT (no activity 6mo+)
- CHURNED (closed account)
The CRM tracks transitions between these states automatically (KYC submission triggers KYC_SUBMITTED; verification triggers KYC_VERIFIED, etc.). Marketing can target campaigns by stage — "send re-engagement to all DORMANT customers", "follow up via WhatsApp with all KYC_INITIATED who didn't submit in 24 hours".
Email campaigns
Built-in email campaign tool with:
- Segment-based targeting (by KYC stage, AUM, geography, AP-attributed)
- Template library (regulator-compliant)
- A/B testing (for marketing emails, not for compliance comms)
- UTM auto-tagging so attribution flows back into VisitorEvent / GA4
- TDS-aware (doesn't send promotional emails to customers who opted out)
- Bounce + complaint handling
Comm-side compliance is built in: SEBI-mandated communications (annual statement, KYC-due reminder, etc.) are sent through the same engine but flagged as transactional, so they're never blocked by an unsubscribe.
HRMS integration
The same CRM doubles as the HRMS for the broker's RM team:
- Attendance tracking (geo-fenced, where required)
- Sales targets per RM
- Pipeline visibility
- Performance scoring
This sounds like overreach but it isn't — every broker we've worked with eventually wanted "but how is RM Aman performing?" reports, and ended up building a parallel HRMS in spreadsheets. Putting it in the CRM keeps the data coherent.
MFD synchronisation
For brokers running both broking and MFD businesses (most do), the CRM syncs both customer pipelines:
- A customer who's a broking customer might be eligible for MFD
- AP attribution per-product
- Combined commission tracking for partners who refer both sides
This avoids the common confusion where a customer ends up in the broking CRM but invisible to the MFD ops team.
What it replaces
Most brokers replace a stack of:
- Salesforce / Zoho for sales
- Mailchimp / Sendinblue for email
- A separate WhatsApp chat tool
- A separate Telegram bot
- A spreadsheet for HRMS
- A separate AP commission tracker
Total monthly cost of that stack at a 200K-customer broker: ₹4-7 lakh / month. Total Finovo CRM equivalent cost: meaningfully less.
But the bigger win isn't price — it's coherence. One customer record means everyone sees the same thing.
When to use it
If you have:
- More than 5 RMs
- Multiple customer-facing channels
- Any kind of email or WhatsApp campaign
- AP / referral partners
…Finovo CRM is probably worth a 30-minute walkthrough. We don't try to convince you to migrate everything in week 1; many brokers run it alongside their existing stack for the first quarter.
