47 Free Browser-Based Image Tools That Never Upload Your Photos

Most free online image tools have a dirty secret: they upload your photos to their servers.
TinyPNG, iLoveIMG, Smallpdf, even Canva — when you "compress" or "convert" an image using these tools, your file travels across the internet to a remote server, gets processed there, and sits in someone else's storage even if only temporarily. For casual photos this might seem fine. But for passport photos, ID scans, medical documents, or anything personal — your image is leaving your device.
I built Firaa to work differently.
How it works
Every single tool on Firaa uses the HTML5 Canvas API and JavaScript to process images locally in your browser. When you upload a photo, it goes into your browser's memory — not a server. The transformation (compression, conversion, resizing, whatever you need) happens on your own device. The download is generated directly in your browser.
Your image never leaves your device. Not temporarily. Not briefly. Not at all.
What tools are available
Firaa now has 47 free tools across several categories:
Compression

Compress JPG to exactly 50KB, 100KB, or 200KB — useful for government portals and job applications that have strict file size limits
PNG Compressor

HEIC to JPG (for iPhone photos that won't open on Windows or Android)

Why this matters for privacy
GDPR and general privacy awareness has made people more cautious about where their data goes. A tool that processes images locally is a meaningfully different privacy proposition from one that uploads to a server — especially for passport photos, ID documents, and personal images.
Tech stack
Pure JavaScript and HTML5 Canvas API. No frameworks, no server-side processing, no database. Everything runs in the browser using APIs that have been available in every major browser for years.
Try it at firaa.online — no account needed, no watermark on output.
