Qik Seek: My Modern, Fast, and Interactive Search Engine

I recently built Qik Seek, a modern search engine designed to be fast, visually appealing, and easy to use. My goal was to create a clean interface with interactive features that make searching the web and images enjoyable.

One of the first things I focused on was the theme system. Users can toggle between dark and light modes seamlessly. In light mode, the background features a beautiful image of the Earth, while dark mode gives a sleek, minimal vibe.

I also added a custom cursor with trailing effects. It’s subtle but adds a dynamic, interactive feel when navigating the page. Small touches like this help make the user experience more engaging without being overwhelming.

The search functionality uses Google Custom Search Engine (CSE). The search bar adapts to the theme, ensuring consistent visuals whether in dark or light mode. Users can also directly open URLs if they type them into the search box.

For deployment, I chose Netlify. It’s fast, easy to use, and perfect for static sites like Qik Seek. I also added proper SEO metadata, schema.org markup, and OpenGraph tags so that the site is well-indexed and shareable.

Overall, building Qik Seek taught me a lot about front-end development, dynamic theming, and enhancing user experience with small interactive touches. It’s a simple project, but it’s rewarding to see users enjoy it.
