South Korea intends to provide free access to a national AI chatbot for all citizens

South Korea is taking a big step toward making artificial intelligence available to everyone.

The government plans to launch a free AI chatbot that every citizen can use without paying a subscription fee.

This initiative is part of the country's long-term plan to strengthen its own AI industry and reduce its dependence on foreign AI platforms.

The project, known as AI for Everyone, will also include an AI assistant that helps people quickly find government services, public benefits, and useful information.

To support local innovation, South Korea wants most of the technology behind the chatbot to come from Korean AI companies.

The government will also provide computing resources to selected providers to help build and maintain the service.

By making AI free and easy to access, South Korea hopes to encourage more people to use AI in their daily lives while supporting the growth of its domestic AI industry.

If the project succeeds, it could become an example for other countries that want to make AI more accessible to the public.
