Being a student means constantly trying to keep up with things.
Classes, assignments, notes, exams, projects, deadlines...
Sometimes even figuring out what to do first becomes a task itself.
I've started using a few AI and productivity tools that make some of this easier. They don't do the work for me, but they definitely help me save time and stay a little more organized.
Here are three tools worth trying if you're a student.
- ChatGPT — For Learning and Brainstorming
Most people probably know ChatGPT already, but I think students can use it for much more than just getting answers.
For example, when I don't understand a topic, I can ask it to explain the concept in simpler words.
You can use it to:
- Explain difficult topics
- Create a study plan
- Make practice questions
- Brainstorm project ideas
- Summarize notes you've written
- Help you understand code
- Quiz you before an exam
One thing I've found useful is being specific with the prompt.
Instead of:
«"Explain recursion."»
Try something like:
«"Explain recursion like I'm completely new to programming. Give me a simple example and then ask me 5 questions."»
The second prompt gives you something much more useful to work with.
Just remember: AI can make mistakes, so it's still important to check important information with your textbook, teacher, or reliable sources.
- Notion — For Keeping Everything in One Place
Student life can get messy when everything is spread across different apps.
One app for notes.
Another for reminders.
Random screenshots for deadlines.
And a notebook somewhere that you can't find when you actually need it.
That's where Notion can be useful.
You can use it as a combination of a notebook, planner, and task list.
For example, you could create a simple student dashboard with:
- 📚 Subjects
- 📝 Class notes
- ✅ Tasks
- 📅 Assignment deadlines
- 🎯 Study goals
- 💡 Project ideas
You don't need to build some complicated productivity system.
Start with one page.
Write down what you need to do today.
Add your upcoming deadlines.
That's already enough to make things easier.
- Grammarly — For Cleaning Up Your Writing
We've all written an assignment or email and then noticed a grammar mistake after sending it.
Grammarly can help with things like:
- Grammar
- Spelling
- Punctuation
- Sentence clarity
- Writing tone
It's useful when you're working on assignments, reports, emails, applications, or even your resume.
But I wouldn't recommend accepting every suggestion automatically.
Sometimes the original sentence is perfectly fine.
Think of Grammarly as a second pair of eyes, not someone who should completely rewrite everything you write.
A Simple Way to Use All Three
You don't need to download 20 productivity apps and create a complicated system.
You could simply use them like this:
ChatGPT → Learn, brainstorm and practice
Notion → Plan and organize
Grammarly → Check and improve your writing
That's a pretty simple workflow.
And honestly, simple is better if you're actually going to use it.
One Last Thing
AI isn't going to magically make studying easy.
You still have to attend the classes, understand the concepts, practice, and do the work.
But if a tool can help you spend less time organizing notes or staring at a blank page, why not use it?
For me, the goal isn't to use AI for everything.
It's to use it for the small tasks that eat up time, so I can spend more time on the things that actually matter.
If you're a student, start with one tool.
Try it for a week.
See if it genuinely makes your life easier.
Then decide whether you want to keep it.
