Most founder promotion is passive.
You write a launch post, submit a directory listing, share a link, then hope someone cares enough to click.
That is normal, but it gets stale fast. Everyone is asking for attention in the same format.
I wanted to try a different shape for SaaS discovery: make the founder earn the slot through a quick game.
So I built BuilderBench.
BuilderBench is a free web game for SaaS founders and builders. You play eight small events, get one all-round score, and the top five scores can show their SaaS link on the leaderboard.
The events are:
- Reaction Time
- Sequence Memory
- Aim Trainer
- Number Memory
- Verbal Memory
- Chimp Test
- Visual Memory
- Typing
It is not pretending to be a serious intelligence test. It is more like a tiny arcade for builders.
The interesting part is the leaderboard mechanic.
Instead of posting, "please check out my SaaS," a founder can say, "I put my SaaS on the board. Can you beat my score?"
That feels more fun to me.
A normal launch link asks for attention before giving anything back. A small game gives people a reason to interact first. If they like the challenge, they naturally see what other builders are working on.
I also like that it is neutral. It does not matter if your product is polished, funded, huge, tiny, ugly, or still early. The leaderboard does not care. You get on it by playing well.
The eight-event format keeps it from being one narrow skill. Fast reaction helps. Memory helps. Aim helps. Typing helps. Staying calm helps.
That is why the line is:
Eight events. One all-round score. Top-five SaaS links.
I am curious whether this kind of playful distribution works better than another static launch page. Even if it does not, it is more fun than refreshing analytics after posting into the void.
