Looking for long-term career advice as a senior engineer

I'm a Senior Software Engineer with 7+ YOE, mostly working with React, Next.js and TypeScript in SaaS/AI.

I'm looking for my next role and want to make sure I'm moving in the right long-term direction.

I want good compensation and stability, but also want to work on meaningful/core problems, own important technical decisions, and continue growing.

I'm open to going deeper into frontend, moving toward technical leadership, becoming more full-stack, moving into another engineering area, or even changing fields entirely.

For those further along in their careers: how did you decide which direction to pursue long term? What factors would you consider if you were in my position?

I'm willing to put in the work and learn whatever is necessary. My main concern is spending years moving in a direction that doesn't ultimately lead toward the kind of career I want.
