Palmer Luckey, Anduril, and Qualcomm have unveiled the BlueChip product line aimed at establishing a domestic US supply chain for personal computers, starting with Snapdragon X-powered rugged laptops slated for 2027.
The main goal of this effort is to gradually restore computer manufacturing within the United States, in order to reduce dependence on foreign suppliers, something that companies describe as a national security issue.
The initial focus of the initiative is on rugged laptops designed for mission-critical sectors such as government, defense and public safety. These devices will feature Qualcomm’s Snapdragon X-series processors.
Anduril has already built working prototypes and plans to start taking orders in 2027. According to the companies, more than 90% of the cost of sourcing components for the prototypes comes from suppliers in the United States and allied countries, which they did not name.
