Apple has announced its first touch-screen MacBook Pro lineup featuring PROLED XDR Displays in 14-inch and 16-inch sizes, alongside pricing and new hardware upgrade leasing options.

At the same time, the company announced the iPhone Duo, priced from $1.999 to $3.199, as well as the new iPhone 18 Pro and iPhone 18 Pro Max, which start at $1.199 and $1.299 respectively.

How the rental program works

The Apple Upgrade program, which launched in July in partnership with Klarna for select devices, allows consumers to acquire devices through leasing instead of making a one-time purchase. The program requires a credit check and replaces Apple’s previous upgrade program, Citizens One. Some older and more affordable devices, such as the iPhone 16, MacBook Neo, Mac mini, iPad with A16 chip, and Studio Display, are excluded from the program.

For the 14-inch MacBook Pro, monthly plans start at $55,99 per month for 36 months or $78,99 for 24 months. For the 16-inch model, prices start at $65,99 per month for 36 months or $91,99 for 24 months.

In the case of the iPhone Duo, leasing starts at $57,99 per month for 24 months or $82,99 for 12 months. Leasing for the iPhone 18 Pro starts at $34,99 per month for 24 months or $49,99 for 12 months, while for the iPhone 18 Pro Max it starts at $37,99 per month for 24 months or $53,99 for 12 months.

Charges and conditions

The plan does not include interest or late fees. However, it does not include AppleCare+, which users must purchase separately within 60 days.

If the rental period ends and the user does not make a decision, Klarna starts an automatic extension period of up to 6 months before charging a purchase fee. If a payment fails, unpaid debts may end up with collection agencies and affect users' credit records.
