According to him, the problem lies in artificial intelligence models that allow the removal of their safety controls. The combination of advanced models, the absence of restrictions and malicious intent creates a dangerous scenario, especially when considering their use in areas such as bioterrorism and digital threats.
Gates stressed that stricter rules and institutional constraints are needed, rejecting the idea that self-regulation by tech companies is enough for global security. He said that the idea that businesses themselves are the sole control mechanism for the most dangerous technology ever invented by man is not enough.
