Deezer is implementing an AI-filtering mechanism for its streaming platform, aiming to address the high volume of machine-generated content.
With 90,000 new AI tracks added daily and a significant portion linked to potential streaming fraud, the company is leveraging its existing detection infrastructure to allow users to filter their feeds.
The feature is scheduled for rollout by the end of 2026.
The growing presence of artificial intelligence
The platform is facing a large influx of automatically generated content. More than 90.000 songs that are entirely generated by computers are now uploaded to the service every day, and more than 42 million such tracks have been identified in total. According to Deezer data, these songs now make up more than 50% of daily uploads to the platform.
Fraud and content protection
Deezer notes that the presence of this content comes with serious issues, as it estimates that up to 85% of AI song plays may be the result of fraud. To address this phenomenon, the company will use a detection tool it had previously developed. According to the company, this system is designed so that the risk of mistakenly labeling a human song as “artificial” is very low.
