Elon Musk's Terafab is reportedly slated to receive its first ASML EUV chipmaking tool in mid-2027.
Reports indicate the advanced scanner will arrive before the Giga Texas research fab building is completed, potentially sitting idle until installation and wafer processing begin.
The delay in installation
Despite the timely delivery, the building that will house the research plant is not expected to be ready until the end of 2027, according to analytics firm SemiAnalysis. This means the equipment will remain inactive for some time until the space is completed and the machinery is moved inside.
The next steps for Tesla
Last April, Tesla began construction work for its research factory in the northern part of the Giga Texas complex, near Austin.
According to SemiAnalysis estimates, the construction of the building will take approximately 15 months. Then, another six months will be needed to install the equipment and production machinery.
