The analysis details the transition from $560,000 in gross revenue to final net earnings.
Omer Develioğlu, co-founder of Northend Games, shared detailed financial data from the sales of two of his games, “Northend Tower Defense” and “Deepstone Rift,” through the Steam platform. Although the two games recorded 135.000 sales over a five-year period, raising a total of $560.000, the amount that ultimately reached the creators was significantly less.
Where did the money go?
After deducting expenses and deductions, the net amount shared by the two co-founders was $134.000. That works out to about $15.000 a year for each. Develioğlu noted that this income is a far cry from the image of wealth that often accompanies successful titles, noting that he still uses the car he has been driving since 2012.
The importance of the Chinese market
Through the analysis of sales, an interesting statistic emerged: 53,3% of purchases of these games came from China.
