Apple's iOS 27 introduces iPhone Handoff, allowing a single phone number to span two iPhones with automatic device switching.
As carriers like Verizon, EE, and Deutsche Telekom roll out monthly subscription fees and MultiSIM add-ons, developers and users alike are looking at the carrier infrastructure required to support multi-device provisioning.
The charges per provider
Verizon has confirmed its plans for charging for the service, while information is starting to emerge in other countries.
In the UK, EE plans to charge £5 (about $6,70) per month with a long-term contract, or offer the feature for free as part of its £47 monthly plan.
In Germany, Deutsche Telekom offers the feature through an add-on service that costs 6,95 euros (about $7,90) per month, while including it for free in its more expensive monthly plans.

Who can use it?
To take advantage of the new feature, it's not enough to just have support from your mobile carrier. You also need a compatible device, which is an iPhone 11 or later, or an iPhone SE second-generation or later.
There is one major limitation, however: the number can only be active on one iPhone at a time. This means that both phones can't make calls or use data at the same time. The number is automatically transferred to the device the user unlocks, while other connections, like the Apple Watch, remain tied to a single device.
