Samsung's Galaxy Z Fold 8 launch brings fresh focus to foldable display adaptation, as users report unoptimized apps struggling with the internal 4:3 screen aspect ratio.
We look at the built-in manual scaling controls available in device settings.
Samsung unveiled the Galaxy Z Fold 8 at its Unpacked event in July 2026. Some owners of the device are experiencing issues with apps not scaling properly to the internal 4:3 aspect ratio display, while users are discussing potential solutions on various forums like Reddit.
How to change the proportions of an app
If an app doesn't display properly on the Galaxy Z Fold 8's internal display, there's a way to adjust its aspect ratio individually for each app.
You can go to your device settings, select display and aspect ratio, or through the app settings. From there, you can choose whether you prefer the app to be displayed in full screen, 4:3, or 16:9. Apps running in the background may need to be restarted after the change.

Another way to adjust
An alternative method to customize the appearance of an app is to hold down its icon, tap the info button, and select the app's proportions.
Even after these settings, some apps not specifically designed for such displays may still display strange placement or cropping on the screen.
