As a record player
The console can play music CDs, DVDs and Blu-ray movies directly. In fact, it has a built-in system that improves the quality of regular DVDs to high definition up to 1080p when connected with an HDMI cable. To ensure that Blu-ray movies play smoothly, Sony releases software updates about once a year to protect copyrights.
For viewing movies and music from your computer
The system supports home networking technology to stream content from a computer directly to the TV. An alternative is to use a USB stick, as long as it is formatted in FAT32 and has specific folders for videos, music, and photos.
For games from past decades
All models of the console can run discs from the first PlayStation, while only the early bulky models play discs from the PlayStation 2. The console's online store no longer accepts credit cards or PayPal, so purchasing content requires the use of a gift card.

For storing music
You can insert a music CD into the console and copy the songs to the internal hard drive. By default, they are saved as AAC files, but you can choose higher quality MP3 or AAC through the settings.
Sale or utilization of parts
If you don't plan on using it again, you can sell it at second-hand stores, through online classifieds, or through buyback services. Before parting with it, it's recommended that you create a backup, deactivate your account, and perform a full system reset.
Alternatively, the internal hard drive is a 2.5-inch SATA type and can be removed for use as portable storage. Even the DualShock 3 controller is natively supported by the Steam platform.
