Meta has released Waddle World, a new AI-backed virtual pet application for iOS and Android in the Philippines.
Built around a 16-bit aesthetic, the application includes interactive pet care, mini-games, and a voice-or-text journaling system where the pet summarizes daily entries.
The app, which was first spotted by social media expert Matt Navarra and is currently available in the Philippines for mobile phones and tablets, essentially allows users to choose and raise a virtual pet, feed it, and play with it in a laid-back, retro world.
Features and function
Meta makes it clear that the app is not a productivity tool, digital assistant, or habit-forming tool, and is intended exclusively for adults over the age of 18. According to its creators, there are no daily obligations, scores, or pressure to use it consistently.
In addition to caring for the pet, Waddle World also functions as a diary. Users can describe their day by speaking or writing text, and the pet records their thoughts with a drawing. The app also includes mini-games and can send a weekly email based on what it has learned about the user.
