Microsoft and NVIDIA unveil new RTX Spark chip for laptops

Microsoft and NVIDIA announced RTX Spark, a new system-on-a-chip pairing up to 20 Arm CPU cores with a Blackwell GPU featuring up to 6,144 CUDA cores and unified memory.

Powering devices like the Surface Laptop Ultra, the architecture supports local AI execution and hardware acceleration.

Inside, the top-of-the-line model has up to 20 processor cores, advanced graphics, and memory running at 9.400 Mbps. There's also a slightly more affordable version with 18 processor cores and fewer graphics cores.

High performance and efficiency

According to NVIDIA, the RTX Spark offers twice the power efficiency compared to laptops using a traditional Intel Core Ultra 9 285H processor and a discrete RTX 5070 graphics card, when playing games consuming 60 watts.

RTX Spark-powered systems support running AI programs directly on the device, image enhancement technologies like DLSS 5, as well as hardware acceleration in tools like Blender and custom Adobe applications.
