Microsoft is testing an à la carte cloud gaming model for Xbox Insiders, allowing users to stream eligible titles without a Game Pass subscription.
The infrastructure supports purchasing non-expiring playtime blocks at set price points, alongside complimentary monthly quotas for existing Game Pass subscribers starting this November.
The initiative aims to lower the barrier for cloud access, focusing on titles users already own or free-to-play games compatible with cloud streaming.
How much does playtime cost?
Users can purchase time packages based on their needs. Prices are $3,99 for 10 hours, $7,99 for 25 hours, and $11,99 for 50 hours.
The hours purchased by users never expire and carry over from month to month. However, purchasing time does not give someone access to games they do not already own or titles that are not offered for free online play.
The changes coming in November
The company says that availability, purchase options, and features may vary by country, device, and account. This option is expected to be rolled out to users more broadly in November.
