Apple announced over 100,000 apps built for the Duo are live on the App Store, backed by global developer workshops to tackle early optimization hurdles.
Early reviews of the device criticized the lack of custom apps at launch. When an app isn't custom, it displays a black bar on the side of the screen and sometimes hides important features in menus.
To help developers, Apple hosted more than 50 meetups in 19 cities around the world, with more than 2.000 developers participating with the company’s help. The iPhone Duo starts at $1.999 for the 256GB model. The device sold out within hours of going on sale, and delivery times have been pushed back to next year. Apple said in an earnings call that it was difficult to predict when the delays would improve.
According to Apple vice president Susan Prescott, the list of apps ready for the device includes Microsoft Word, Outlook, Excel, PowerPoint, Copilot, Zoom, Spotify, NBA, NHL, Etsy, LTK, Goodnotes, Extra, and Halide Mark III. Some updates, like Spotify's, have yet to fully appear on reviewers' devices, despite being on Apple's list.
