Apple introduces the M6 chip to the 14-inch MacBook Pro, upgrading the base CPU to 12 cores and adding support for Wi-Fi 7 and Bluetooth 6.

The base configuration starts at $1,999 with 16GB of RAM, reflecting a $400 price increase driven by ongoing memory shortages.

Preorders open tomorrow ahead of the November 6 release.

The base model starts at $1.999 and includes 16 gigabytes of memory. Compared to the previous model, the price is up $400, a change the company attributes to the ongoing memory shortage in the market.

The performance of the new processor

The new processor now has 12 cores instead of 10. According to Apple, those upgrading from older models with the 2020 M1 processor will see graphics up to 11 times faster and artificial intelligence tasks up to 13 times faster.

Compared to last year's model, the new MacBook Pro offers up to 30% faster graphics and up to 25% faster performance in artificial intelligence functions. The device also supports the latest Wi-Fi 7 and Bluetooth 6 standards, while its battery life reaches 24 hours, remaining the same as last year.
