Former Plaud executive Peter Mo is launching Ambi, an AI app designed to run continuously in the background for real-time intelligence.
Backed by $26 million, the platform features multi-platform client releases and encrypted data handling.
The company, called Ambi, was founded by Peter Mo, a former Plaud executive. The funding came from multiple rounds, led by Luminous Ventures and Huaqin.
How the app works
Ambi releases apps for iPhone, Mac, and Apple Watch. According to the company, the app can stay active throughout the day to record data and offer real-time recommendations.
This mechanism relies on calendar, meetings, knowledge base and data from the internet, so that the system can make suggestions during a meeting. At the same time, the company plans to release its own device with a screen, speaker, camera and microphones. The startup has more than 50 employees with offices in San Francisco, Beijing, Shanghai and Shenzhen.
Privacy and logging issues
Continuous data logging is disabled by default and users can turn it off at any time. The company says it does not store recordings and encrypts the data, but does not specify what kind of encryption it uses.
However, the responsibility for informing people around them that they are being recorded still lies solely with the user.
