Apple has unveiled a new Apple TV 4K featuring integrated Siri AI, long-range microphones, and a four-speaker HomePod audio configuration.
Priced at $299, pre-orders open today with retail delivery set for November 13.
The new device is priced at $299, a $100 increase over the previous base price. Pre-orders start today, with a release date expected on November 13.
What changes with artificial intelligence?
The device now features support for Apple's digital assistant, which is used primarily for searching for content, but also for displaying answers directly on the screen. The answers appear in the corner of the TV so as not to obscure what the user is watching.
Thanks to new built-in, wide-range microphones, interaction can be done without using a controller. In addition, the system can utilize information from the user's iPhone, enabling more specialized voice commands.
Controller detection and improved audio
The companion remote has new tracking capabilities. If it gets lost, the user can ask the assistant to locate it, which will cause the remote to play a sound. It also continues to be supported for tracking via the company's object tracking app.
In terms of audio, the updated Apple TV 4K now supports connecting four speakers for rich surround sound. This setup requires either the second-generation HomePod speakers, HomePod mini 2, or a combination of both.
