Turn your classic watch into a smart one with a small sensor

Hiyd is preparing to launch a compact health tracking sensor that attaches to any watch via microsuction technology.

Measuring 2.7mm in thickness and weighing 7g, the device tracks heart rate, sleep, and VO2 max, syncing data to an iOS and Android app.

The project is led by a team including former Apple design engineer Salah Batroukh, with plans for a Kickstarter campaign in November 2026 following their appearance at TechCrunch Disrupt.

How does it fit on the watch?

The device is made of silicone, is 2,7 millimeters thick and weighs just 7 grams. To stabilize itself on the watch, it uses a technology that works like a tiny suction cup, avoiding the use of glue or magnets that could leave marks or cause damage.

What can it measure?

The sensor records a range of data, such as:

  • Heart rate and its fluctuations
  • Sleep quality
  • Movement and calories burned
  • Estimates of your fitness (VO2 max)

This data is synchronized with a special mobile application. The company plans to add nutritional analysis functions to the application, with the aim of allowing the user to connect their daily habits with the quality of their sleep and their performance.

Who is behind the product?

The Hiyd team was founded by Salah Batroukh, a former design engineer at Apple. The team also includes Omar Shakir as technical director and Mahamad Charawi as software manager.

Availability

Hiyd is expected to present its product at the TechCrunch Disrupt conference in October 2026. The official release of the sensor is planned through a funding campaign in November 2026. According to the company, more than 16.000 people have already made deposits to obtain one of the first devices.
