The Document Foundation released LibreOffice 26.8.2, addressing over 35 bugs across Writer, Calc, and Impress.
The update resolves regressions like Calc absolute sheet reference handling, fixes platform-specific issues on Linux and macOS, and improves legacy Microsoft format compatibility.
What's changing in word processing and spreadsheets
In the text editing section, the update fixes an issue that caused the app to unexpectedly close when autocorrecting within text fields, as well as a hang when users opened the character dialog on fully selected text. In addition, images now properly maintain their aspect ratio when changing anchor settings.
In spreadsheets, we fixed an issue where relative sheet references were incorrectly treated as constants when copying sheets. We also added support for Web Query files to make it easier to import data from the web.
Improvements to presentations, files, and operating systems
In presentations, audio and MP3 playback issues have been fixed, especially on Windows computers, while sudden closes are prevented when users scroll through slides while multimedia is playing.

The update also brings improvements to compatibility with older documents and presentations from other office programs, while also fixing spreadsheet files that were incorrectly interpreted as plain text.
On Linux computers, an issue where the application was displayed with a technical name instead of its regular title has been fixed. On Apple systems, the update resolves an issue that caused a hang when launching on a newer version of the operating system, as well as an issue with single dashes not displaying correctly on computers with Apple Silicon processors.
Other changes include fixes to color management, display issues for right-to-left languages, accessibility issues, and minor word hyphenation issues.
The new version is available for download from the official project website and from the repositories of Linux distributions.
