An in-depth look at the Optoma UHZ36 4K laser projector, priced at $1,599 with lower street pricing.
We break down its hardware specs, including 3,500 ISO lumens brightness, HDR10 support, dual HDMI 2.0 ports, and input lag metrics of 57.3ms at 4K/60Hz, alongside its lack of built-in streaming features.
Design and connectivity
The device weighs about 3,4 kilograms and measures 4,6 by 14,4 by 9,6 inches. Unlike other projectors, it does not have a built-in video display system or an accompanying small docking device. To display content, users must take advantage of the two HDMI 2.0 ports it has, while there is also a USB-A port exclusively for power supply.
Image and sound
The projector offers 4K resolution and the brightness of the laser light source reaches 3.500 ISO lumens. The laser life is estimated at 30.000 hours in power saving mode or 20.000 hours at full power. Support for high dynamic range images is limited to the HDR10 standard, while the built-in sound comes from a 15-watt mono speaker.
Response delay
In gaming measurements, response latency was found to be 117,2 milliseconds for 1080p resolution input at 60Hz and 57,3 milliseconds for 4K resolution at 60Hz.
