Readwise has launched Readwise Books, a new platform combining an e-book store and reading tracker.
Alongside standard e-book and print support, EPUB uploads, and text-to-speech features, the app introduces open developer tools including a public API and an MCP server designed for AI agent integration.
What does the new online bookstore offer?
The store features millions of digital books from major publishers, starting initially in the United States. Print books and some audiobooks are also available through the service.
Progress tracking and additional reading capabilities
The application records various data about users' reading habits, such as the number of words read, pace, depth, concentration, and reading sessions.
Users can track their reading progress in the browser using Amazon's reading tool, take photos of physical books, or upload digital books in a common format without copy protections. There is also the option to convert text to speech.
Artificial intelligence functions and open technology
With permission from publishers, the app supports artificial intelligence features such as session summaries and explanations, initially starting with content from the publishing company Harper Collins.
