Woodpecker CI version 3.20 introduces pipeline management updates, security improvements, and faster scheduling.
The release removes agent tokens from process environments, stops bearer credentials in trace logs, and hardens configuration fetching and secret access controls.
New possibilities and changes
In the new version, users can now select a specific task when manually starting a process. At the same time, administrators have the ability to restrict organizations and users to their own execution systems only.
In the area of speed, version 3.20 speeds up calculations for scheduling the job queue and ensures that a frozen queue remains frozen even after a system restart.
Security Improvements
The update includes significant security improvements. Runtime system keys have been removed from process environments, and sensitive login details are no longer recorded in verbose debug logs.

Additionally, repositories keys are refreshed during remediation operations and configuration downloads have been made more secure. If permissions synchronization with a connected code hosting service fails, the platform is automatically restricted to read-only access.
Reliability fixes and improvements
The new version addresses issues that caused shutdowns, while fixing bugs that allowed tasks to run even though a previous dependent task had failed.
Improvements were also made to compatibility with services such as GitLab, Gitea, Forgejo, and GitHub, fixing issues with group permissions, digital key renewal, and code tag resolution. At the same time, issues with Docker connection, SQLite database locking, and connection management were resolved.
The patch version 3.20.1
Because the initial version 3.20.0 contained an unintended change that affected functionality, the creators quickly released version 3.20.1, which restores the lost functionality and fixes a log grouping issue in the online administration screen.
