A comprehensive look at the expanding ecosystem of AI-powered wearable devices, from audio-recording pendants and meeting transcribers to continuous personal companions and new hardware rollouts from major tech platforms.

The Bee series options

One popular option is the Bee, an affordable pendant that starts at $49,99 that records audio and learns your habits. Its companion app requires a $19 monthly subscription to provide transcriptions and keynotes, and the device also has a mute button. Amazon acquired the company in July 2025 and released two new models in early October 2026: the Bee Frontier for $74,99 and the Bee Eclipse for $99,99, which can optionally be connected to Alexa.

The emotional companion Friend

Another much-talked-about pendant is the Friend, which costs $129 and acts as an emotional companion. It connects to your phone via Bluetooth and listens constantly. The company introduced a major update, Friend 2.0, adding a built-in speaker and voice communication capabilities.

Business note-taking devices

In the recording category, we find Limitless, formerly known as Rewind, a $99 pendant that transcribes meetings and calls. The Plaud NotePin, which costs $159, follows a similar philosophy, which saves voice notes in real time to the user's phone. At the same time, Plaud is preparing to release an equally slim note-taking device, the Plaud Note Pro, with a pre-order price of $179.

New proposals from Meta and Nirva

Meta announced its first wearable for its digital assistant Muse in September 2026, featuring a digital avatar named Jolly. Meanwhile, startup Nirva, founded by former Meta Reality Labs employees, is making a $249 personal development-focused pendant.

Omi, Rabbit R1 and the Sandbar ring

Alternatives include the $89 Omi, which answers questions, summarizes conversations, and can be worn as a necklace or secured with medical tape. The Rabbit R1, a small, pocket-sized device with a touchscreen and rotating camera that costs $199, has expanded its capabilities through software updates. Finally, Sandbar has introduced the $299 Stream ring, which has a touchscreen and is expected to be released this summer.
