TP-Link plans to partner with Key Tronic Corporation to assemble Wi-Fi 8 routers in Mississippi starting next year, responding to U.S. restrictions on foreign-made network hardware while addressing local component sourcing challenges.
The move comes amid a US ban on routers manufactured abroad. However, TP-Link is facing difficulties in sourcing key components domestically and is seeking a temporary exemption from the restrictions by submitting plans to regulators.
The company has also announced plans to invest nearly $1 billion to boost U.S. production, while four U.S. states recently filed lawsuits against the company over safety concerns.
For its part, the company states that it separated from its Asian parent in 2024 and that it now operates as an American entity.
