An unorthodox hardware mod demonstrates how relocating a GPU can reduce hotspot temperatures by up to 19°C.
While initial placement negatively affected CPU temps, follow-up adjustments achieved a 14°C GPU reduction and a 3.3°C cooler CPU.
After additional testing and adjustments, the creator managed to improve the situation. The temperature at the hottest point of the card remained 14 degrees lower, while the processor ran 3,3 degrees cooler.
The process was captured in a video titled "I Put My GPU Where It Doesn't Belong. 17°C Cooler," in an article by Mark Tyson published on October 11, 2026.
