Vessev has introduced the VS-9, a 10-passenger electric water taxi featuring hydrofoil technology, a 105 kWh LFP battery, and a 25-knot cruising speed.
Learn more about its specifications, charging capabilities, and the upcoming VS-12 model.
Features and performance
The VS-9 is powered by a 105 kWh lithium-iron-phosphate battery. Its cruising speed reaches 25 knots (about 29 miles per hour). Its range depends on the load: it can travel 40 nautical miles when fully loaded or 50 nautical miles with a light load. It takes about an hour to charge on a fast charger or up to 20 hours with a regular power supply.
Plans for the US and challenges
The company is headed by Eric Laakmann, a former Apple executive. Vessev has already announced FlyTahoe as its first customer in the US. However, the company faces US law, which requires boats that carry passengers within the country to be built locally. Vessev has not yet chosen a location where it will build its boats for the American market.
Orders and future plans
The interest in the VS-9 is significant, as Vessev has already received orders that cover the production potential for the next two years. In addition, the company is developing a larger model, the VS-12, which will be able to carry up to 30 passengers. This model has already secured orders for its launch in Sydney and Hobart, Australia.
