Introduction
Hey there! It's a brand-new day, which means it's the perfect time to dive into a new and exciting project. If you've been following along with my YouTube channel, Hacky Things, you're probably familiar with the AI-powered fun we've been having. This time around, we're taking a deep dive into a recent project: "Deleted Scenes", where we put famous characters into entirely unexpected scenarios. This project was a journey in not only stretching our creative storytelling skills but also in exploring some incredibly cool AI technologies.
Project Overview
"Deleted Scenes" is a series where we twist reality by placing well-known characters from movies, TV, games, and more into unique and humorous situations. This project was not only a test of creativity but also a chance to experiment with some cool technologies like Midjourney and FakeYou.
Our first episode was "Darth Vader and Yoda at a Diner," a rather unconventional setting for these iconic Star Wars characters, but it turned out to be a fun, hilarious, and even slightly derpy endeavor. The whole idea was to create a fun, engaging, and unexpected narrative using these familiar characters.
In the episode "Darth Vader and Yoda at a Diner" from "Deleted Scenes", Vader opens up about his challenging day at school to Yoda over a casual diner meet. The narrative humorously transitions between flashbacks of Vader's encounters with taunting stormtroopers and Yoda's playful banter in the present. Despite the mockery about his 'pepperoni face' and smaller lightsaber, Vader retaliates with a surprising act of dismemberment and some witty comebacks. The episode concludes with Vader holding his own against Yoda's jests, setting up for more intriguing narratives in the series.
Midjourney
Midjourney is a brilliant tool that uses AI to generate images based on descriptions. It was the backbone of our project, instrumental in creating the visual aspects of the video. With Midjourney, we input descriptions of the scenes we wanted, and it whipped up images that closely matched those descriptions. Yes, it took a few tries and tweaks to get the perfect image, but the unpredictability added to the excitement. Creating consistent images that aligned with the evolving storyline was a fun challenge, but with some persistence (and a bit of manual editing), we triumphed!
FakeYou
FakeYou is a fantastic platform that enables users to generate voice outputs from text inputs. Users can train their own voices and share them for others to use, providing a diverse range of voice options. Of course, it had its challenges. The quality of voices varied, and getting the inflections just right occasionally required some phonetic spelling hacks. But these challenges made the process more engaging. FakeYou was truly fun to work with and brought an added layer of hilarity to our project.
Artlist.io
Every scene needs a proper backdrop of sound to truly immerse the audience, and that's where Artlist.io came into play. A treasure trove of royalty-free music and sound effects, Artlist.io was our go-to resource for all the audio in "Deleted Scenes." Whether it was the bustling background noise of a busy diner or the cinematic score underlining the humor of the scene, Artlist.io had it all. Their vast library was key in enhancing the overall ambiance and comedic timing of our project.
A Pinch of ChatGPT
While I wrote the script myself, ChatGPT came in handy to fine-tune the dialogues. For instance, it was a great help in making some lines sound more like Yoda. It wasn't a major part of this project, but it was a helpful assistant to add some authenticity to our characters' lines.
Conclusion and Final Thoughts
Creating "Deleted Scenes" was a lot of fun and a great learning experience. It was a perfect blend of creativity, storytelling, and technology. Despite the challenges, the process was rewarding, and the end product, we believe, was entertaining. It was fascinating to see how AI tools like Midjourney and FakeYou could be utilized in such a creative endeavor.
