I just launched BlazePDF a PDF reader and annotation app I built specifically for students.
The idea came from wanting a PDF tool that feels fast and simple for actually studying, rather than another huge PDF editor packed with features I’d never use.
BlazePDF lets you:
- Highlight, draw, add text, shapes, arrows, and images
- Create custom keyboard shortcuts for annotation tools
- Add blank pages for extra notes and calculations
- Search and work with PDFs locally
- Print double-sided even if your printer doesn’t support automatic duplex
- Enlarge diagrams and pages across multiple sheets
- Use OCR for scanned documents and handwritten notes
A big focus was keeping the core desktop experience local-first. You can open and annotate your PDFs without uploading everything to a server or creating an account.
I’m still actively improving it, and this is just the beginning.
