Before starting reading this article keep this thing in mind " It was my mistake "
I remember, it was my first web development project that failed (only failed as per client thinking. I delivered a full web solution. But, client not satisfied. Yes, It was my great mistake.)
So, what happened is, my friend was working in travel company as a digital marketing head. ( he left now and started his own digital marketing business) and contacted me for web development project for the company he working for. So, finally we ( company's CEO, my friend and me) met and discussed about requirements of the project and CEO asked me to send the proposal for the project. So, I my self created a proposal and suddenly I got a mail. It was my friend's mail with other 3 proposal's of other developers attached who also in the race๐. So, I looked into those proposals and changed my entire proposal to win this battle ๐.
(Yes, this is completely fine for me. It's a battle of business. And this is how the big corporates works when it comes to filling a tender of government projects.)
So, finally I created my proposal very lucrative with low margin and high quality.
Finally, My proposal got selected and I got an advance 40% payment. after that I started working on the project as per our discussion.
After a week I delivered a final project and I asked for a remaining 60% of my payment. Now, real game began. CEO asked me to add blogging system with social media sharing facilities for their website. I agreed and created that. After that he asked me to do the same as their competitors website.(Look like their website which means completely re-design the website. Which is not possible. "Within the budget we agreed with.") So, I said no with humble. Then he told me that ok, I don't pay you remaining amount until you don't do that. I said its completely wrong. Then he said that you didn't mentioned about it in proposal we signed and agreed. Now I'm little bit scared ๐ฌ. At that time I've all the control over his company's online presence. ( Domain , Hosting, their social media accounts all of that with passwords.) I can do a huge amount of damage of their online presence with those control. But, I'm not evil. Somehow, we settle down this situation and the great lesson I learnt is that
" look and think twice before sending and signing an agreement or proposal "
