  • The company announced an update to its privacy policy, scheduled for release on December 16, 2025. It will allow Meta* to show users personalized ads based on data collected from their interactions with the company's AI products.
  • Users will see ads related to topics they discussed with the Meta AI chatbot. According to Meta, it is used by more than a billion people per month. For example, if a user asked about hiking, they will be shown ads for hiking gear.
  • The update will affect not only Meta AI but also the company's other AI products, Meta representative Emil Vasquez noted in a conversation with TechCrunch. The company will also be able to use data from its 'smart' glasses.
  • Users will not be able to opt out of the changes, Bloomberg emphasizes. The update will be released worldwide except for the UK, EU countries, and South Korea. Meta expects to add these markets later — after review by local regulators.
