React.dev Nofollows Half Its Outbound Links. Vite and Deno Nofollow None.

Latest round of the site-crawl series: ran the free RankForge crawler against react.dev, vite.dev, nuxt.com, and deno.com — 10 pages each, starting from the homepage. Prior installments mostly turned up same-URL self-redirect loops. This round none of the four self-redirect at all — the split this time is in how each site treats outbound links.

What I ran

No account needed, so this is reproducible:

  • POST https://rankforge.cc/api/analyzer with {"seed_url": "..."}, then poll GET /api/analyzer/<id> until status is completed.
  • The crawler follows internal links breadth-first from the seed, caps at 10 pages for the anonymous tier, audits every internal redirect to its final destination, and classifies every outbound external link as followed or nofollowed.
  • Raw JSON for all four runs: content/analyzer_20260930_<host>.json.

react.dev nofollows half its external links

Of 419 external links found across react.dev's crawled pages, 210 are nofollowed — a 50.1% ratio, the highest this series has recorded. Two things drive it: every one of the 73 links to legacy.reactjs.org carries rel=nofollow (the old docs site, fully cut off from equity even though it's still linked from the current one), and roughly half of the 119 links to github.com are nofollowed too, an inconsistent split on what's otherwise treated as an editorial citation.

nuxt.com sits in the middle, vite and deno at zero

nuxt.com nofollows 164 of 603 external links (27.2%). vite.dev (642 external links) and deno.com (581 external links) nofollow none — every outbound link on both sites passes full equity, including links to sponsors and third-party tooling that a lot of sites nofollow by default.

deno.com: a docs migration left a 3-hop redirect

deno.com is the only one of the four with any internal redirects to audit — 3 tracked, but one of them is a real chain: /manual redirects through 3 hops to docs.deno.com/runtime, and it's linked from 5 different pages including the homepage. Two more links (/deploy/subhosting, /pricing) each cost 2 hops. None of the 22 affected links are broken — they all resolve — but every extra hop is link equity paid to the redirect instead of the destination page.

vite.dev: healthy score, concentrated authority

vite.dev's authority-flow health score came back 93 (healthy), but the concentration read is the opposite of balanced: the top page (/blog) sits at 100 while the median page on the site scores 22.37. Nine of vite.dev's ten crawled pages sit under a quarter of the homepage's authority — a common pattern when a blog index outranks the docs it's supposed to funnel traffic into.

Try it on your own site

Same checks (orphan pages, near-orphans, internal authority distribution, redirect-chain hops, external nofollow audit) run in one pass, no signup: rankforge.cc/audit.
