Hey DEV Community! 👋
I'm excited to share a project I've been building: FakeMess Cloud — a free, realistic chat mockup generator designed for developers, UI/UX designers, creators, and meme makers.
Most chat generators on the web today suffer from three frustrating issues:
- Intrusive Ads & Forced Signups: Plagued with paywalls, spammy ads, or watermarks.
- Western-Centric App Presets: Almost all existing tools only support WhatsApp or iMessage.
- Privacy Concerns: Many tools send conversation snippets and uploaded images to their backend servers.
I built FakeMess Cloud from scratch to solve these exact problems.
🛠️ Key Technical Highlights
1. 🔒 100% Client-Side & Privacy-First
- Zero Server Storage: Everything you type and every avatar you upload stays strictly in your browser memory. No backend database stores conversation logs or user assets.
-
Client-Side Image Export: The mockups are rasterized and exported directly to high-resolution PNG using HTML5 Canvas (
toBlob/toDataURL), ensuring instant downloads without round-trip network latency.
2. 🌏 Authentic Asian Messaging Platform Support
While standard generators ignore Asian messaging apps, FakeMess Cloud provides pixel-accurate implementations of:
- LINE: Authentic bubble geometry, header layout, and the iconic Japanese 既読 (Kidoku / Read) status receipt.
-
KakaoTalk: Accurate Korean chat layout, avatar framing, and the distinctive yellow
1unread badge next to unread messages. - Plus Facebook Messenger, Instagram DM, and X (Twitter).
3. 🎨 Deep Customization Controls
- Mobile Status Bar: Toggle carrier text, WiFi strength, cellular signal, battery percentage, and time display.
- Bubble State & Timestamps: Sender vs. recipient alignment, custom timestamps, and read/delivered status icons.
- Visual Styles: Dark mode and light mode presets for each messaging platform.
- No Watermarks: Clean, studio-quality export for presentations, bug reports, social media mockups, or storytelling.

💬 Community Feedback Wanted!
As developers and designers:
- What messaging platform or chat style would you like to see added next (e.g., Discord, Slack, Telegram)?
- How realistic does the typography and bubble spacing feel compared to native iOS/Android apps on your devices?
