Aerospace Ex Ethernet STP 10GE: High-Speed 10 Gbps Connectivity for Hydrogen Aerospace and Defense Systems

Connectivity in aerospace and defense applications demands unparalleled reliability, flexibility, and performance. Over the past few years, data rate requirements have increased exponentially, moving from typical 100Base-T infrastructure to 10G standards.

Aerospace Ex Ethernet STP 10GE Architecture

Concurrently, hydrogen has emerged as a high-potential technology with a specific energy-per-unit mass three times higher than traditional fuel. However, similar to aviation fuel, hydrogen presents operational challenges in storage and transportation due to its flammability and explosiveness.

To address these demands, HYDITEX CORPORATION is developing the Aerospace Ex Ethernet STP 10GE — a compact solution providing high speeds and signal integrity for current and next-generation critical systems.

With expanded functionality in terms of network bandwidth, protocols, and routing, Aerospace Ex Ethernet STP 10GE supports modern military and aerospace platforms equipped with high-resolution sensors and optical arrays, processing high volumes of telemetry via onboard AI systems and onboard computers. It delivers 10 Gbit/s performance in challenging environments where low-loss, lightweight interconnect solutions are required, built on an architecture designed for rapid feature upgrades.

Crafted with precision engineering, the Aerospace Ex Ethernet STP 10GE is tailored to meet the rigorous requirements of aerospace and defense applications, ensuring seamless connectivity across critical mission systems.

Hardware & Environmental Specifications

Engineered for extreme physical and electrical conditions, the hardware conforms to the following operational parameters:

  • Data Rate: 10 Gbps.
  • Cabling: Aircraft-grade Ethernet cable CAT 7.
  • Link Range: 100-meter segment limit.
  • Power Supply Compatibility: Operates with aerospace and weapons systems powered by 115/200 VAC at 400 Hz.
  • Thermal Envelope: Maintained connection stability at temperatures from -65 °C to +125 °C.
  • Mechanical Durability: Vibration and shock resistant.

Explosion Safety & Field Operation

The unit integrates advanced explosion-proof technologies specifically targeted at hydrogen environments:

  • Mounting Area: Certified for installation in Zone 2.
  • Gas Group Specificity: Designed for explosive zone category (H2) — strictly for hydrogen gas environments.
  • "Hot" Connection Capability: Allows technicians to connect and disconnect lines under live power without de-energizing onboard equipment.
  • Hazard Containment: A physically damaged or severed cable will not cause a fire or explosion in an explosive atmosphere.
  • Operational Field Maintenance: Enables rapid repair and installation of cables and connectors directly inside the hazardous area without requiring specialized workshop clearance.

Development Status

The Aerospace Ex Ethernet STP 10GE project is currently under development by HYDITEX CORPORATION, establishing a dedicated framework for high-throughput, explosion-proof data transmission in aerospace systems.
